Dads are hard right? I find that my husband always wants big expensive things or nothing at all. Like MATE, you’re not getting a new jetski for Fathers’ Day ok?! There’s only so many socks and jocks a man needs, so why not use your oils to make something a bit different?
Beard Oil
This one is obviously only helpful if your man likes a bit of fluff on his face. I like Cedarwood in this because it’s a manly scent, plus helps with hair growth.
Recipe:
- 20 drops cedarwood
- 20 drops bergamot
- 60ml jojoba oil
Cologne
I don’t need to tell you about how bad perfumes are right? Of course not! Make him up a roller of a spicy cologne. He’ll love it! Get the kids to help with this one too.
Recipe:
- 10 drops cinnamon
- 8 drops cassia
- 5 drops peppermint
- 5 drops grapefruit
- 10 ml FCO
Shaving Cream
This one is inspired by The Garlic Diaries! I think I’m going to make some myself!
Recipe:
- 1/2 cup of coconut oil
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 20 drops of essential oil of choice
Instructions:
- In a double broiler melt the coconut oil and shea butter together.
- Put into fridge until the mixture is the consistency of soft butter.
- Beat with a stand mixer until stiff peaks form.
- Add in your essential oil.
- Transfer into an airtight jar.
Shower Melts
These are my favourite for when I’m feeling stuffy and blocked up.
Hubby is a big fan of Easy Air/Breathe so I opt for that oil everytime. You could also do a citrus/mint combo for the morning or a lavender/cedarwood combo for night.
Recipe:
1/2 cup corn flour
1/2 cup baking soda
10 drops essential oil
2 tablespoons of water
Instructions:
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Mix in wet ingredients
- Press into moulds. I like silicone ice cube moulds.
- Leave to dry overnight, then pop out!
Hand Degreaser
I desperately need to make this one! Make it in a glass bottle or a jar.
Recipe:
- 1/4 olive oil
- 1/4 cup epsom salts
- 20 drops lemon
Aaaaaand if all else fails, a tube of Ice Blue Rub is always popular. Enjoy!
