How are you feeling?
No really.
This time yesterday I was quite happy with the cushy normal life we had in NZ. Lockdown was a real awful time for me between being sick in my first trimester, hubby working all day, everyday, some serious staffing dramas and obviously the loneliness. I’ve tried to erase that from my memory but last night when the new announcement was made I flew into a total spin. Although the current restrictions barely affect me I couldn’t help but stress that the restrictions would hit Southland again and we’d be in a full blown lockdown again. Yikes.
I try my best not to let stress affect me. My hubby gives the best (and usually unwanted lol) pep talks but there’s also a few things I try to do to relax when my blood starts simmering.
1. Play a favourite song.
My pick is always a worship song as they help me to connect with God and my higher purpose rather than focusing on my own circumstances.
2. Grab an oil and breathe.
My top oils for this would be Balance, Wild Orange, Frankincense, or Adaptiv. I put a few drops into my hands, rub together, cup my hands over my mouth and inhale DEEP. I try to do10 big breaths. Did you know certain scents send signals to your brain to calm your emotions? #plantmagic
3. Spend some time in God’s word.
Duh. He always pulls through for his people and its good to be reminded of that.
4. Get some fresh air.
In my pregnant state I struggle with exercise and big walks at the moment but some time outdoors, even sitting can do the mind wonders.
5. Grab a good snack and take a bath.
Yes both at once. My personal fave would be some fresh fruit, a glass of kombucha and a bath with epsom salts, lavender and frankincense. Instant ZEN.
