Oh my goodness me guys. My baby sister gets married in THREE days. A few weeks ago the other bridesmaids and I threw her a bridal shower in Mum’s backyard. It was such a lovely afternoon!
Decorations
Mum’s backyard is beautiful so it didn’t need much decorating. I got some rose gold balloons, flax toi tois, and helium balloons to give the backyard a party vibe.
The Cake
I’m in charge of making the wedding cake so had a practice run for the bridal shower. This was a strawberry and white chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache. I made the topper from card with my Cricut and added flowers from the garden.
The Activities
QUIZ THE BRIDE: I asked a bunch of questions about their relationship to the groom before hand. The bride has to guess his answers.
DATE NIGHT JAR: Each guest wrote down a date night idea for the couple.
BRIDAL PICTIONARY: The guests were split into teams and were given wedding related prompts to draw with lipstick. Prompt idea: the kiss, walking down the isle, garter, mother of the bride, tossing the bouquets
3 PART CHALLENGE: Again, the guests were in teams. They had to race to complete their 3 challengers which included a wedding word scramble and answering questions about the couple.
RING ON A STRING: The guests stood in a circle, both hands on a piece of string. The bride to be stood in the middle. A ring was slid along the string and the bride had to guess who had it, as people pretended (or not) to secretly pass it along.
These activities took about 45 minutes all up! The rest of the afternoon was filled with gifts, food and chatter!
This was such a fun backyard bridal shower. Can’t wait for Saturday to see this beaut as a bride!
