As a part of Our Wedding series, I wanted to share one of my favourite DIYs… our wedding favours! We were on a budget so wanted something both fun and affordable. At first I thought some mini jars of homemade jam would be cute, but Aaron disagreed. I found 100g bags of Jelly Belly Gourmet Jelly Beans for $2 and got scheming. For about $30 and a bit of effort I had whipped up some unique (and tasty) candy pouch favours that looked great!
Warning: I wouldn’t be lying if I told you that my costs would have halved if I refrained from eating the jellybeans whilst making the pouches. Oops!
What I used:
- Fiskars circle cutter
- Jelly Belly Gourmet Jelly Beans
- Alphabet and other various stamps
- Ink pad
- Brown kraft paper
- Sewing machine
Firstly, set the cutter to 12cm diameter and cut out two circles for each person. We had 80 at our reception so needed 160 circles. Then stamp whatever you like. I would suggest not doing as many stamps as me, unless you want to be stamping for days on end. Maybe initials or a monogram would be cute?!
Place a plain circle and stamped circle together and sew most of the way around the edges. I used the edge of the presser foot as my guide which gives a 6mm seam. Once only a small gap is left, put the needle in and lift the presser foot. Fill up with jellybeans and sew the rest up!
I lay the candy pouch in the middle of the cloth napkins at the table settings and they looked adorable. If only I had a photo to show you! (Brides take note.) These would also be cute for a kid’s birthday party don’t you think? If you have a go making them I would love to see so tag me (@eversobritty) on Instagram.

Lovely idea! Wedding favours can get ridiculously expensive. Even if you’re only spending $5 per person for a moderate sized party it still adds up to hundreds of dollars out of your wedding budget. We just went without favours altogether and I don’t think anyone noticed. DIY is a great way to go! #BlogFair

Thanks Robyn! I know, it seems if it has the word ‘wedding’ in the product name the price doubles!

Brittney, first off, these are the coolest, you could do this for birthday parties too, or any occasion, they are brilliant! And of course I love jelly beans, I would have eaten quite a few too, have to keep my energy up somehow! I have pinned and stumbled this, I think they are just brilliant and I hope that you get a lot of traffic on this. Plus, as usual your images are the best!!! xoxoxo
