I finally finished our cosy scandi inspired guest bedroom and I’m a little in love. Ok, a lot in love. Every time I walk past the room I stop and stare for a little bit. Sometimes I even go and sit on the bed admiring my handiwork. DIY can be hard and time consuming (read: we’ve been in our house for two years and it’s still not finished) so its nice to have something completed. Let’s take a look at what it looked like before.
Ok, so this room was dubbed the junk room for a good reason. It was painted quite a deep creamy colour (not that you can tell by this photo). The paint job was a bit rough so it was definitely in need of an overhaul!
So I sanded and painted and sanded and painted some more. I wanted to go for a cosy Scandinavian feel so used the colour Gull Grey by Resene. I’ve also got this colour in my office!
Ugh. I love it! So does the cat. ;) We bought a new queen sized bed for the room which is the perfect size!
I originally painted an artwork to go over the bed but then decided against it. I’m wanted to get a large macrame hanging to go above it, but this little collection of prints will do for now!
When guests come over I’m planning to fill up my wee basket from The Penny Drops with some yummy chocolates. And that amazing bottle? $3 from the Warehouse!
The duvet cover is an old one from Aura that used to be on our bed. We always used the black side so the white looked pretty fresh! Cushions are from IKEA and The Warehouse, as with the knitted throw. I added the pom poms though!
The bench is an oldie that once belonged to Aaron’s Gran. It’s perfect for the end of the bed!
These shelves are also from IKEA. The artwork on the bottom shelf I LOVE. I picked it up from a market in Australia. It’s handmade and is BEAUTIFUL. You can find the makers here at Spoken Shop. I so wish that I had bought more!
I made up a wee basket of toiletries and facecloths for guests as well as popping a few books on the bench. When guests come I’ll be adding towels there too.
So what do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?
