I love to bake cook and create. When I first got married I decided to make my own recipe book to gather up favourite recipes from my Mum. One of my friends was admiring mine one day so I decided to create one for her for her birthday!
What I used:
-1 chipboard album
-25 pack of 110gsm paper
-paint/pens
I bought a small square chipboard album from The Warehouse that came with six dividers. I decided that on each of the dividers I would hand paint a cake on a plate/cake stand. I hadn’t painted in a long time so I had a bit of a play around first before painting the actual chipboard. I added linked text across each divider to balance the image and add a bit of interest.
For the recipe cards, I designed a quick template using Adobe Indesign. I made the recipe card slightly smaller than the album and marked out where I would need to punch holes. Because the recipe book was small I managed to fit two recipe cards on an A4 page. I decided to use 110gsm paper for this project as it’s stronger than normal paper but doesn’t have the bulk of card. I used the whole pack of paper which left me with 50 recipe cards.
I went through my recipe book and picked out recipes that I knew that my friend had before and enjoyed. I left the rest of the pages blank so she can fill them in with her favourites and some newbies!
I love creating things for other people and think that DIY gifts are really special. What do you think?
