When Renee from HEART from HAZEL came to me and asked if I wanted to make a Couch Candy (chunky arm knit throw) I jumped for joy and did a cartwheel. Ok, maybe not quite, but I was pretty excited! I had been eying up her gorgeous range for quite some time and was stoked to be asked!
Heart from Hazel has a whole bunch of incredible colours to choose from. I tossed up between light pink and apricot, then decided on the apricot. I got 3kgs of wool, enough to make a large throw.
I’ve done a little bit of knitting over the years but have never tried arm knitting. Heart from Hazel has all the instructions on the website, as well as videos, stepping you through each step. I watched the videos and read the instructions a few times to understand exactly how to do it. I soon figured it out and I was arm knitting at a great speed! Within half an hour I had a blanket forming and covering my knees. Hubby Aaron would come into the room every now and then and was astounded at the progress I was making. I think I completed the whole blanket in about just 3 hours! That’s pretty good going considering it takes me about 2 weeks to knit a single dish cloth.
At HEART from HAZEL you can choose to buy a throw that Renee has knitted, or you can buy the wool and make it yourself. Making it is so much fun and actually not too not hard or time consuming. You could even get a few friends together and make a night of it!
100% NZ wool. Mmmmm so soft and cuddly! P.S. How cool is it to support our local sheep farmers?
Can we just take a moment to admire this goodness? Can we?
Thank you so much HEART from HAZEL for giving me this amazing wool! My new chunky arm knit throw is definitely one of my favourite home decor items in our house right now. I love, love, LOVE IT! Go and check out the website to get your own throw, scarf or wool!
