Reading Goals, Summer Dresses and Chippies
Hey friends!
Ah, I could forever live in January. Couldn’t you? I love the relaxed vibes it brings, the days at the beach or lake, the warm weather and the long evenings. It’s also my birthday month which means it’s always been a little spesh too! You know what I could ditch from January though? Flies. As I write this at 10.22pm, I can still hear one of those suckers buzzing around, looking for a clean pane of glass to poop all over.
What’s been happening:
1. We spent a few days after Christmas camping at the beach.
We upgraded our tent this year to a proper family tent and did not disappoint. We got this one but the black out version, which is super handy with little kids and early sunrises. It’s inflatable too which meant no mucking around with poles! 5 stars from me!
2. I’ve been reading!
Real books people. I’m usually an Audible and podcast fan because of how much driving I do, but have really been enjoying reading physical books lately. It’s a good chance to unwind and easy way to take some time for myself whilst watching kids play, something us mamas often forget to do! I’ve set myself a goal to get through 20 books this year.
3. We’ve been going on on day adventures.
The weather has been SAAAA good, so when the sun is out, we’ve been making the most of it! We’ve had a few day trips to Te Anau to go boating, one to Queenstown AND Aaron went on an epic diving and fishing trip to George Sound via Milford Sound. We LOVE adventures. Oh, and do you know what we’ve been doing at night? Watching a series! We’ve been watching Manifest on Netflix, and it’s actually the first series we’ve watched together in our almost seven years of marriage. It’s good!
Am I part of a cool kids club now?
For my birthday I requested something that felt pretty selfish for me. You know, there’s always kids’ things that need to be bought so spending a bit of money on myself makes me feel guilty sometimes! However, I think I’ve got over that because I can see this thing is going to well used. We landed on this stand up paddle board and its fab! It packs up into a bag so is easy to transport. Its such a great low impact activity for me and I’ve really enjoyed getting out on it myself, taking kids for rides and seeing others learn how too! I know it’ll be super fun to have over the coming years!
An App for Book Worms
Now that I’m a reader again, I wanted to find a way to track what I’ve read, and keep a note of suggestions. One of you guys told me about the Good Reads app! You can plug in what you’ve read, what you rate the book, see other people’s reviews and get recommendations.Â
Pretty dresses!
Dresses are my favourite for summer! They’re easy to wear and only require one choice unlike winter outfits where you have to pick multiple pieces. I got a few new ones from the Self Styler and am obsessed! They have such a good range of dresses for mamas in baby stage, with breastfeeding, and bump friendly options.
It ain’t summer without chips…?
Am I right? These are what I’m digging at the moment! I love that the ingredients are real simple! Just potatoes, oil, and a bit of seasoning. Fab!
Treat Yo Face
I’m usually an Undercote fan through and through but I have really been loving this Vitamin C serum from Antipodes lately! Vitamin C helps with skin damage and with a few patches of skin being a little too sun kissed lately, I’ve been reaching for this beaut more and more. Its great to apply in the morning on a makeup free day to give yourself a pretty glowy complexion too!
