Our laundry and hallway makeover is something that I seem to have been working on for AGES. We’ve been in our house for almost a year now and this was the second area that I painted. Also, the second area EVER that I’ve painted. I had absolutely zero experience in home renovation so it was all a big learning curve. I’m so glad with how it’s looking now and really can’t wait to get stuck in to the rest of the house.
This is what the area looked like for quite some time when we first shifted in. We had no storage at all in the house initially so had lots of things junked in the corner in boxes. Combined with the yellow paint, it was quite an eyesore! It was definitely in need of a modern upgrade. I painted the laundry nook ‘Serene’ by Resene. We have this colour in our lounge and I originally planned on having it in the hallway area as well. I painted all the walls in Serene before deciding that the space was far too dark to have darker walls. Our lounge has lots of light so the paint colour looked completely different. I went back to the hardware store and purchased a bit bucket of Seafog by Resene and repainted the walls. I plan on using it throughout the rest of the house also.
I replaced the white self in the laundry with two black floating shelves. I picked up some bits and pieces from different decor shops to fill them up with, as well as having the practical essentials there.
As well as the walls needing painting, I also had to paint the skirting, door frames and ceiling. It was a pretty big job and took me so long to do. I wouldn’t be lying if I said that many episodes on Netflix were consumed in the painting of those dam skirting boards.
The current light fittings were pretty basic and boring so I decided to add a caged pendant light from Kmart. I love it! I bought 4 black frames from Kmart and filled them with prints from the Warehouse (the pineapple and leaves) and prints that I had made myself. I made them on Adobe InDesign and printed them off at my local stationery store.
The table was a wedding present from Aaron’s grandparents and filled the space at the end perfectly. Its a good place to drop keys and mail, as well as looking pretty!
I hope you enjoyed our laundry and hallway makeover! I definitely enjoy the space a lot more now.

Such a gorgeous transformation!! I love the colours you chose. Painting is such a huge job and the surface area of a hallway is especially deceiving. The prints are gorgeous, I totally have my eye out on the leaf one.

Thank you so much! The surface area is so deceiving! Now I just have my other hallway to paint. That hallway has 8 doors that go off it so you can imagine how much surface area there is… ;)
