I am so happy to be able to share this with you today! Last week I made my own coconut yoghurt with Mad Millie kits and it was so fun. I have the pleasure of working with Mad Millie for this post ANNNNND I’m giving away two of these kits over on my Instagram tonight. Exciting! I’ve used these kits before to make Sour Dough and Butter (check out this post!).
Mad Millie kits are pretty cool. They make fantastic gifts for people who love to cook and create. This is the third Mad Millie kit I’ve used and I’ve been amazed at the things in each one. Not only do they come with the basic ingredients you’ll need to make your product, but also the equipment! To make this coconut yoghurt all I needed was two cans of coconut cream. Everything else was included in the kit. There was a few different recipes I could have made (including chocolate) but I decided to opt for the plain version. To start off, I put the coconut cream in a pot and put it over the stove. Isn’t that wee thermometer the cutest? While the coconut cream was getting up to temperature, I mixed the thickener and sugar together. Once the cream was at the right temperature, I added some of it to the thickener, then put it back into the pot to heat again. Once it hit 75 degrees, it was time to pour the mixture into the jar.
I put the jar in a cold sink of water and waited patiently for the yoghurt to cool to 40 degrees. Once it hit that temperature, I could then mix in the culture. I popped the jar in my slow cooker for about 15 hours to allow it to ferment. Once it was ready I put it in the fridge ready to be served.
This yoghurt tastes so yummy! I can’t wait to explore with different flavours. I also felt pretty proud of myself for making something a bit out of the norm for me. If you want to have a go at culturing, fermenting and brewing, be sure to pop over to the Mad Millie website and check out their fantastic range.
Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram as I’m giving away a few of these yoghurt kits to two lucky readers!

I hadn’t heard of Mad Millie until I read your butter post. Such a fun idea. And yes that thermometer is cute! This would be a great project to do with the kids. Thanks for sharing with the Blog Fair.

Love to see the Homebrand Coconut cream being used by you. I own a Supervalue supermarket and this is our own brand, just as good as any more expensive tins!

Thank you! I love Supervalue! We live rural and our only supermarket within 40 minutes is Supervalue so I go there all the time! Always fantastic service. :)

Just bought one of these kids and keen to try it out. How much water did you put in your slowcooker? Did you lay the jar on the side with the lid on? Great idea to keep it at the right temperature, I was wondering how to do this and then found your post.

Hi Olga! I just put a little bit of water in the slow cooker and set it on the lowest setting which was ‘warm’. Yes, I lay down the jar with the lid on it. I would probably keep the lid off the slow cooker though as even its lowest setting is still quite warm.
