When I started Ever So Britty, as well as sharing recipes and cute DIYs, I wanted to share a bit of personal inspiration. The Random Act of Kindness has been around for a while now and I absolutely love the idea! However, as a Christian, I think that acts of kindness should be a little less random and a lot more regular! With that in mind, I encourage you to join me on a Non-Random Acts of Kindness mission. I searched the internet for ideas and found a lot of very ‘American’ ideas that don’t really apply to me such as leaving coins at laundromats (what even is that?), handing out dum-dum suckers (seriously, what are those?) and so on. Therefore, I’ve decided to collate a few of my favourite ideas that you could easily do yourself with a little money, time or effort!
ONE: Pay for something for someone.
This could be at a supermarket (hopefully the person behind you hasn’t loaded up two trolley loads, ha!), a drive through at a fast food restaurant or in a line at any store you visit. If you’re strapped for cash I probably wouldn’t recommend this option though.
TWO: Compliment a stranger.
Cheap. Easy. Free. Like someone’s top? Tell them! Think someone has amazing hair? Tell them too! This option is seriously simple.
THREE: Write a note to someone.
Encourage someone with a simple note or letter. Tell them they’re awesome and you love them! For bonus points, find a free printable card on Pinterest and write the note in that! This one, this one and this one are great options.
FOUR: Put money in parking meters.
This one is inspired by my sister who is constantly doing it! This only applies to you if you live somewhere with ‘prehistoric’ parking meters like I do, that don’t have all that fancy zip-zap technology. I never carry cash so am constantly digging through my handbag and every nook and cranny of my car trying to find 20c to feed the meter. How good does it feel to park up and see you have parking already paid for?
FIVE: Leave a treat for the mailman.
This one is top of my priority list! For the first time in my life, I live somewhere with a rural mail delivery service which means when I put up the little red flag, the mailman collects the mail I want to send. SUCH A NOVELTY GUYS! So next time I put up that little red flag, my mailbox will be filled with some home baking I think!
SIX: Open a door for someone.
This was my husband Aaron’s suggestion. Open a door with a smile and say hello! This is such a simple gesture that could make someone’s day.
SEVEN: Cook someone a meal.
Flick them a txt and tell them not to cook because you’re delivering! If your cooking skills aren’t up to scratch I would suggest that maybe you opt for the ‘buy a meal’ option instead. You wouldn’t want to accidentally inflict food poisoning, because that isn’t kind.
EIGHT: Buy someone a random gift.
Okay, this is something you may not know about me… I LOVE SHOPPING FOR AND GIVING GIFTS. Or maybe I just love shopping and having an excuse to buy things? I don’t know. We don’t judge here. I love finding something that I think one of my friends or family members would love and sending it their way just ‘cos!
NINE: Pick up some rubbish.
Keep it green and pick up that rubbish. There’s nothing worse than visiting a nice park or picnic area or even walking down the street and having to navigate through someone else’s trash. Next time you’re out and about, just pick it up.
TEN: Pray for someone.
If you’re the praying type that is. I like to keep a little notebook of people and situations to pray for so I don’t forget them. God can do more than I can!
I hope you enjoyed these 10 ideas and will join me in doing some Non-Random Acts of kindness. Follow my journey on social media below and also let me know you’re going to jump on board!

I love these ideas! I like the ‘compliment a stranger’ one, that’s so easy to do and a random (or not so random) compliment can make someone’s day!

Brittney, I think I like you more and more each time I pop by. You are so thoughtful. That husband of yours is a lucky man. Make sure you tell him I said so. Once we bought the woman’s groceries in front of us. We didn’t have much either. But she had 3 crying kids her food stamp card wouldn’t work and she had no money. I could see she was ready to break. She was so upset she didn’t see us hand the cashier our bank card, she left never knowing. I hope she was blessed from there, my heart broke for her. But it felt good to be able to help. I’m glad we were the one’s behind her in line. xx

Thank you so much Nikki! You are so encouraging! That is such a lovely story. I think doing something nice for someone without them knowing makes it just a little bit better, don’t you think? :)

Sometimes a smile and a simple thank you can go a long way, I agree. And holding doors, does anyone do this anymore? I feel like I’m the only person in all of Toronto that holds doors for people and says please and thank you.
I definitely think that if we all practiced more love and kindness, we would reap the benefits around the globe.
Thanks for sharing hun.
