This week I had the pleasure of organising and hosting a ladies’ event at church. The ladies’ group is called ‘The Company’ so I thought I would make a sign to be used as decor. This rustic light up sign was made from an old pallet and requires minimal tools and skills to put it together.
To start with I removed panels of wood from an old pallet. I hit the reverse side with a hammer and was able to pry the boards off. I lined them up and figured out how long I needed the pieces of wood. I trimmed the edges off with a jigsaw. However, this can be done with any type of saw. I then sanded the individual boards with an electric sander so they were nice and smooth. I sanded down the edges as well. I placed a piece of wood vertical at each end and put a nail into every board. I flipped the sign over and put a few nails into the front side too.
I then traced the letters onto the sign and painted them. I made a small hole with a nail at each point where I wanted a hole drilled for a light. I used a drill piece slightly larger than the lights. Once all the holes were drilled a gave the top a light sand (to get rid of the rough edges) and touched up the paint. Once I poked all the lights through the holes it was finished!
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

A great project, I liked the way you mount the LED lights on signboards
