Babes, I am BUZZING after coming back from the 2018 doTERRA Convention. Can I use buzzing? Is buzzing still a word? I love my little business, but 90% of my communications are done online rather than in person. Having almost 5000 people that do what I do, all in one room was pretty cool. You can’t help but absorb the high energy from the atmosphere and it takes a while to come down from that high. I wrote a blog post about convention over at The Oil Bunch here. Let me talk to you about what we got up to in Sydney!
Our Hotel – Ovolo
When first looking for accommodation in Sydney I found somewhere with ‘budget’ in the name of the hotel, however it was a half an hour to the convention centre. When suggesting the idea to my husband, he said something along the lines of “I do enough walking everyday on the farm, why would I want to do that much walking on my holiday?!” Fair enough farmer! We found a different hotel that cost Angel Place Birdcages a bit more, but was only a 2 minute walk to convention, right at Darling Harbour. I am stoked that we spent the money on the hotel that we did because it was so lovely! The hotel was filled with so much character and had a tonne of cool quirks. We had a free mini bar and Aaron took full advantage of all the cans of coke that he didn’t have to pay for. The bed was huge, and the pillows were more comfortable than my own, so we slept very well! Ovolo was a really lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay!
Exploring the City
We had two days at the convention and then two spare days. We spent one of those days exploring the city! We walked across the bridge from Darling Harbour and right into the centre. We had a wee look around the shops but it was pretty busy! We walked down to the main harbour and walked around the Opera House. One of my favourite bits was finding the Angel Place Birdcages. The street outside was packed, but this little alley was totally empty. It was stunning!
Hillsong Church
Sydney is home of the Hillsong Church. They have multiple campuses around the city but we wanted to go out the the main one. We figured out that we could take a train from the city to Paramatta, then the Hillsong bus picked us up from there and took us to the church. It was super convenient and only cost us $2.30 each to get there and back. We both grew up singing Hillsong songs and watching them on TV and then Youtube so it was really cool to be at the original church!
Bondi Beach
After a few days walking around in the warm we were ready to find some water! We caught a train to Bondi Junction, then hopped straight on a bus that took us to Bondi Beach. We went on a Monday so it wasn’t super busy. We swam in the water which was lovely, and made sure we swam between the flags. We saw the Bondi Rescue film crew and didn’t really want to make it on TV! There is a heap of really lovely healthy food places all along the beach front. Think Acai bowls and salad bars. YUM!
We had a wonderful time in Sydney and especially enjoyed the convention and the beach!
